## **What personal data we collect and why we collect it**
### **Comments**
When visitors post comments on the website, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and user agent string (this identifies the browser) to help detect spam.
After your comment has been approved, your profile picture is publicly visible in the context of your comment.bar.
### **Media**
If you are a registered user and upload photos to this website, you should avoid uploading photos with an EXIF GPS location. Visitors to this website could download photos stored on this website and extract their location information.
### **Contact Forms**
If you contact us via our contact form, your name, your message incl. your email address will be saved. subject and your email address to our lab team. Responsible staff members have access to your message so that they can contact you.

### **Open Street Maps (OSM)**
We use Open Street Maps as a guide to the Fab Lab. For example, when you call up the “Contact” subpage. The embedded map enables a display. Access to the OSM map is realised via an inline frame embedded on the website.

#### **Data Protection**
In principle, no data is transferred to the provider OSM when official websites of the University of Siegen are accessed. Data is only transferred to OSM after the user has called up the link to the sub-page with the OSM map. By activating and using the location search function within the site, the user’s data is also transmitted to OSM at the same time.
As far as we are aware, user data is used by OpenStreetMap solely for the purposes of displaying the map functions and temporarily storing the selected settings. This data may include, in particular, IP addresses and location data of the users, which, however, are not collected without their consent (usually executed within the framework of the settings of their mobile devices).

We use the WordPress analytics plugin WPStatistics. The provider of this plugin is VeronaLabs ([https://wp-statistics.com](https://wp-statistics.com)). Simple statistics about the use of our website are compiled from the anonymised data. For this purpose, no usage profiles are created and no cookies are set. ## **How long we store your data**
If you write a comment, it will be saved including metadata for an unlimited period of time. This way, we can automatically detect and approve follow-up comments instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website, we additionally store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. All users can view, change or delete their personal information at any time (the username cannot be changed). Administrators of the website can also view and modify this information.
